Replica IWC Pilots
Roger himself, in undertaking the servicing of this watch, will be studying it very carefully to note the aspects of the movement that can only be discerned from actually working on it. Apparently Daniels stuffed this watch, along with a few others, into a drawer somewhere and promptly forgot about it. Roger explained to me that it was because after completing a watch, Daniels's attention would focus elsewhere, moving on to create something new.
Watches that emerge from the Voutilainen workshop in Môtiers, Switzerland are the kind of creations that can weaken the knees of any watch nerd. Their entirely handmade watches are the result of one Kari Voutilainen, a Finnish watchmaker trained at WOSTEP with a specialization in restoring complicated and rare wristwatches. After eventually teaching at WOSTEP, Kari launched his own independent brand in 2002. Voutilainen watches represent a very special proposition to a specific type of enthusiast collector, or more simply put, if you can afford one, do it. Characterized by extremely limited production, customized service and the promise of something both technically interesting and quite beautiful, a Voutilainen would be a prize in any collection. This year at Baselworld, we got a chance to spend a few minutes with their lovely V-8R, an elegant dress piece with an interesting movement and stunning details.
Longines will soon release these two vintage inspired watches that are lovely and affordable examples of classic sport timing timepieces. The watches are the Telemeter Chronograph and Tachymeter Chronograph. What makes them different? The dials, that's pretty much it. Each of these designs are faces we have seen before in the past, rendered here nicely in what is in my opinion an affordable package.
Tourbillons are beautiful to gaze at, but the sad fact of the matter is this: Swiss-made tourbillon watches are out of the reach for the general masses. Even some of the most affordable cost upwards of ,000. But what if I told you you could have a tourbilllon watch for less than 00? Unbelievable? How about I up the ante and say you could have one for under 0?
