Lastly, my Globemaster is number 136/500. That's it. Talk about exclusivity. Fred, the owner, answers his own phone, writes his own emails and stands by his word with a two-year warranty, a third generation watchmaker in his employ, and a beautiful presentation in a wooden, lined box with hand-written warranty card. Simply purchasing this watch felt like an experience from the days when service and quality were paramount. The timepiece itself continues that feeling.
The watch case is 44mm wide, housing an ETA 2824-2 automatic movement, with a sapphire crystal on the dial. The watch also comes in a beautiful handmade wooden box that really sweetens the deal. All in all I think this watch is a great value, and I highly recommend checking out New Zealand's own, Magrette watches.

City Pules' data collected from the Green Watch will be available to anyone. You will be able to visit the interactive map located at la Montre Verte City Pulse here to see the most polluted areas in Paris (in French). You can also download the data on the website. The project literally just started in May, so it is brand new. I do think it is quite cool, and the watch looks like an eye on purpose. It is there to always "view" what is going on with the environment. Leave it to the French to build in the symbolism - I love it. Eventually the project will have thousands of people, hopefully all over the world who are using this type of cloud sourcing concept to battle the problem of having always up to date information on environmental conditions.

The steel watch case is 44mm wide and inside is a Citizen Miyota Japanese automatic mechanical movement. A decent workhorse movement used in a ton of watches. For 5, this movement is totally workable. The watch crystal is of course sapphire, and overall fit and finish has an artisan feel that is virtually unavailable at this price level. You can see how nice the Moana Pacific looks matched with the thick and wide honey colored brown leather strap. A great look for this retro styled watch, but it also looks nice with a black strap, or dark brown leather strap.
Artists and professional athletes with watch contracts definitely help sell products. As brand ambassadors, they not only share the watchmaker’s core values but can also strongly influence others through their product endorsement.

"Everything must go! Deals! Deals! Deals! Robert Lighton has be committed due to criminally insane deep discounting! For legal reasons we can't stop the sale so take advantage of it right now for the accountants burn down the store for the insurance money! [readers, please take all that in jest as it was intended] Yes, I can hear it now... the silly commercials, and marketing copy that gets you excited about the sales, and all the rest of the hoopla. That applies to most sales, but sometimes you get something really good. This is one of those times.
But bragging rights only go so far. And as followers of this site will attest, a quality watch is something that will Actually Last Forever. In value, at least. And it contributes to your daily life, keeping you on time. Throw in a complication or two, and a watch becomes an offering of a future, rich in love and appreciation for the finest things in life. That you will now build together.
The skeletonization is not total on this watch, but rather, is combined with the look of a quasi-aviator or racing watch. I tried to figure out exactly why I liked the overall look of the watch, even though it didn't serve any formal functional purpose. The design seems to ride between being a tool watch, and being a watch that showcases how a mechanical movement works. Then I remembered the Terminator, from the movies. Everyone remembers the cool look that Schwarzenegger had when he was between looking like a person and a machine. You got a glimpse of what was making him work, but you still were connected with the human part, and the functional "covering" over the machine underneath. This is the same idea behind this Orient CFT00004B watch. See what I mean? Look at the face and see how it is roughly sectioned off into three pieces. One that is mostly clean with what the watch would look like without the cut-aways, then a section with reduced hour markers with more of a view into the movement, and then another section that is more or less totally open. The concept works because it appeals to our sense of wonder into how things work, but combines it with something that actually does work. This makes for a perfect "guys watch," that few men would refuse to like. The whole concept JUST WORKS.
Robert Lighton New York has had a line of nice watches for a while. Apparently that will cease to be the case as they are closing that side of the business (I blame poor marketing and distribution). Thus, they are closing out their inventory - and the sale is incredible with 55-75% off already fair retail prices. I was fortunate to learn about the sale from my friend at FratelloWatches, who learned about the sale before me. I don't know how many of the watches are left, but there is a nice selection to look from.
While I started a few weeks ago, my first watch review is now up on AskMen.com here - on the Guepard RetroSwiss watch. This is the newest venue to feature my writing and I want to first thank AskMen.com for their gracious inclusion of my thoughts on watches. I'll be writing several AskMen.com reviews each month. Their editorial process requires that all watches to be reviewed be confirmed by their editors. So the choice of watches to review is really a joint effort between the two of us.
Frederique Constant has something to be proud about. At the very least it should be something that is exiting to fine watch consumers. While not the only company to offer relatively low cost in-house made movements, their new Maxine Manufacture Collection watches are beautifully made and feature a totally in-house made Swiss movement for under 2000 Euros. Typically the cost for in-house made manufacture movements is much higher.
The Class Collection appeals to me with its simplicity - its wearability - its mystique. Since it is a Zenith, there is so much more going on with this watch than just the outside. Powered by Zenith's Elite Caliber 692, oscillating with 28,800 vibrations per hour, this timepiece is sleek and sexy and mesmerizing.
If I wasn't a prior fan of the Watchmen graphic novel, I might have thought that this was the perfect "watch" superhero movie. Come on "watch men." It would have been too good to be true with heroes like "The Human Main Spring," "Clockimedes," and the "Chronographer." Villains might be the "Tickler," "Quartz Madness," and the "Asian Counterfeiter" (I did just humor myself there). They call Watchmen the most "celebrated graphic novel" of all time. That may be true in some circles, but I prefer to think of Watchmen as graphic novel that celebrates the comic genre. Writer Alan Moore and artist David Gibbons said it was "unfilmable -" but it wasn't, and they did, and they did it well. If you haven't seen Watchmen
