The Baz Persaud Horological Cuff Links added a bit of passion to my wardrobe for the day, which is what these are about. Men generally do not wear much jewelry, so these are really a way of not only upping the sophistication of your outfit, but allowing you to proclaim (to those paying attention) that watches are not just a simple tool, they are something that you have a passion for. Are these going to be for everyone? No, likely not. I know that not everyone is in a suit as much as I am, so these sort of accouterments are not going to fly. Then again, not every style of watch is for every collector, so there is definitely a place for these.
Welcome back to an aBlogtoWatch original series, where we discuss important stores that sell watches all over the world. Each store we profile has an interesting story to tell about where they operate and who they sell to. Whether you buy watches from brick and mortar retailers or prefer to buy watches online, these are the stores that help shape our watch culture around the globe. There is a long list of stores to cover, but if there is a retail location in your favorite city that we simply can’t miss, let us know in the comments below.

The cam, for those less familiar with such more "niche" terms of watchmaking, is a flat piece of metal with rounded sides. Its periphery is tracked by some other component which in turn determines the action of a hand or other part. The shape of the cam, likely that of the number "8," is what matters here and is something that had to be calculated with extreme precision. The top and bottom outermost plus the inner "corners" in the center of the "8" determine when the hands will be fully expanded or detracted. What you see from all this engineering is a complex-looking column that contains the majority of components responsible for modifying the length of the hands as they track the aforementioned cam.
When we last visited the Eterna Super KonTiki, it was back in 2010, when Eterna (which was a very different company back then) released the limited edition Super KonTiki 1973 (hands-on here). That was a lovely watch, and while the 2015 Super KonTiki is distinct in style and design, it maintains a lot of the same DNA that makes it a real "Super KonTiki."
Pricing has also been an important element in Bremont’s strategy. While the concept and scale of “affordability” is at best a sliding metric, Nick and Giles were adamant from the start that their core range remain attainable and consistently priced competitively to their market segment (00- 00 on most pieces). This makes them an attractive alternative to other options from other name brand competitors who have played the “luxury card” in an attempt to justify increased price points. While many independent brands have fallen victim to poorly thought out pricing strategy, Bremont’s five year development period and thoughtful planning is clearly evidenced here as well, with strong values on the secondary market proving their strategy a success.
