Like a traditional watch the Apple Watch will focus on a crown for most of its functions. However, where it all becomes very new and unique is how the digital crown functions in a way that we have never seen before in a smartwatch. The crown was designed to make navigating the beautiful interface a more efficient and simple experience than on previous smartwatches, as here it is to be used together with the multi-touch gestures on the touch screen as well as the buttons set into the side of the case.
As opposed to the plastic holder of the Single Watch Winder, the Double version comes with two soft, fake-leather covered cushions that feel surprisingly nice to the touch. After placing the watch on the cushion it has to be squeezed and inserted into the corresponding slot inside the box – again, a bit of practice is necessary, especially in the case of watches with a thicker, more complicated deployment clasp that adds more "depth" to the watch. Nevertheless, I never had a watch get loose, let alone fall out, so this cushion-holder concept is definitely a safe and pleasant way of storing watches.
Experienced watch lovers will tell you that a sure way to spruce up a boring watch or one that you've had for a while is to change the strap. Sometimes this can even mean swapping out a strap for a bracelet - or vice versa. Of course, you need to start with a watch whose straps can be easily changed (no proprietary strap connections, etc...) and you'll need to measure the width of the strap (often 18mm - 24mm) in order to know what strap or bracelet to buy. Furthermore, you'll need a bit of good taste and an eye for matching colors to make sure you select the right straps.

As much as possible, I want to stay on point in this article to discuss the implications of the Apple Watch on the larger watch industry rather than excitedly discuss its functionality or analyze potential uses for the watch that we haven't anticipated yet. Let's just say that the device will likely offer a lot of extra functionality over merely having a smartphone in your pocket, even though it will serve as a "second screen." Apple has designed the Apple Watch to be both a notification product, a fitness aid, and mobile payment platform. The idea is that they did a pretty good job in making sure that while you will be able to get incoming call and message notifications on the Apple Watch, it will be able to do so much more. Further, a take a slightly different approach to discussing how the luxury industry will react and whether they are ready for Apple Watch competition here on Forbes.
IAT is no boutique; the event offers unlimited access to all watches, and hands-on is the rule, not the exception. At “It’s About TIME” Get-Togethers for Watch Enthusiasts, watch fans from the Greater Miami Area are assured of VIP access to the best of times.
As noted, the men's watches include the 45 millimeter wide Classic Fusion in titanium and the 48 millimeter wide King Power in a micro-blasted ceramic case. Both have see-through casebacks showing off the automatic chronograph movements, while the ladies' Classic Fusion at 42 millimeters will have a ceramic case with a solid caseback and a diamond-set bezel.
Elsewhere, the Panerai Radiomir 1940 Equation of Time 8 Days Acciaio comes in a 48mm polished case with polished bezel. And because it is done in the 1940s style, it does not have the wire lugs of the regular Radiomir models. It has a screw down crown and a rated water resistance of 100m. It also comes with a black alligator strap with ecru stitching and will be limited to just 200 pieces.
Welcome back to an original aBlogtoWatch feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Cindy Livingston, the woman at the helm of the watch company producing Guess and Gc watches. Along with hearing about her first grail, we learn what she admires when she stops by a watch shop window.
The dial is slightly domed and coupled with the domed sapphire crystal, giving the watch vintage vibes. For a classic looking dress watch, some may argue there is quite a lot going on on the dial, but overall it can still be described as clean. There’s a fairly large seconds sub dial at 6 o’clock, a date window at 3 o’clock, and a power reserve indicator for the hand-wound movement's massive 8 day reserve at 9 o’clock. The hours, minutes and seconds hands are gilt steel, whereas the hand for the power reserve indicator is blued steel.

Technical specs for the "smart complications" module are as such:
Another important distinction is that COSC is an independent, privately owned company that has no shareholders – meaning that, technically, no brand should be able to gain any influence within the company – and it is audited and accredited by the Swiss service for accreditation. By contrast, METAS is an independent and neutral federal agency, which – in theory – means that the watches and movements it has verified have received a federal certification by the Swiss government. However, Omega has mentioned that even though the certification is offered by METAS, the testing will actually take place under Omega's roof in the interest of efficiency (and because at least as of now we don't believe METAS has a facility to test watches - unlike COSC in Geneva). METAS will however be certifying the equipment used to do all the certifying.
Furthermore, I found that its legible monochrome dial with that splash of green went well with just about all casual-to-smart-casual attire, albeit it certainly is not suitable for more formal occasions. Last but not least, the super soft leather strap is a joy to wear as it holds this medium-large sized watch firmly against my 6.75" wrist. One gripe that I would have with the leather strap is its "suede-like" inside, which, while certainly feeling very comfortable, I sense might have a slightly compromised durability in the long run.
